New Gaming TV/Monitor

Post by heavytread on 28/5/2014, 09:50

I've been thinking of replacing my existing 22" HDMI Monitor for a 32" TV as there are some bargains to be had at the moment (when isn't there). Now the dilemma I find my self in is do I go for the Full HD 1080p led or for less money a HD ready Led with a max def of 720p. For just over £200 I can get a Sony Smart HD Ready TV 100Hz refresh. The thing is will I notice any improvement in screen quality at 32" with HD? Anyone out there using said size @ 720p and an Xbone?

I would definitely go for full 1080p at that size for the pixel count as long as your machine/games support it... its like blowing up a picture you copy, you will see the dots

Ayo I'm not so certain its quite so simple, yes I sure you are correct if I was to get up close and personal with the screen but I will be some distance away. At the moment I have a 22" in the study that acts as a computer monitor and games screen at which I sit relatively closely. The intention is to put in a sofa which will be further away from the desk therefore increasing the distance from the TV. Now if I was putting in a 42" I would see the logic for 1080 but the size and distance suggests that I would see no noticeable difference with a 32". I have used the Xbone on the 40" in the lounge and it looks amazing.

I use a 32" 1080p sony lcd as my computer monitor and I notice the difference from the old 24" 720p monitor. But I do sit fairly close to it 4 feet or so when playing. If you're planing on putting a sofa in the room I'd go with a 40" plus, you'd prob notice pretty fast that a 32 isn't large enough for good detail unless sitting close. Now as for 40"+ tv's you can notice the difference from 720p to 1080p and the kind of screen type(lcd, led, plasma) makes a diff also. I use a 55" plasma for console gaming(has major anti screen burn settings)Last gen plasma from Panasonic and it's the best tv I've ever gamed/watched movies on looks way better then the 42(sony) led or the 50 lcd(sharp) I have in other rooms.

The study is only 9 feet wide (15 feet long) so having anything bigger than 32" is just going to be over kill and look completely out of keeping with the room.  Also one's TV should not be wider than one's book cases and realistically it should be smaller....  Anyway I'll probably get a proper HD TV just thought I'd see what others thought, thanks to everyone that responded, yeah that includes you Six!

Finally got a 32" HD TV. I bought a Toshiba 32RL958 Smart TV after doing extensive research on a number of AV forums. Had a quick play last night and have to say it looks really sweet straight out of the box.
